A biography of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry
Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, presently depossed Chief Justice of Pakistan has turned to be the hero of Pakistani nation, thanks to his courageous struggle against dictatorship. He refused to bow down against dictatorship or compromise with Pervez Musharaf. Before 9th March, 2007, very few people knew Mr. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and before that date Pervez Musharaf was a strong dictator, backed by the army and United States of America. On that particular day, General Pervez Musharaf called the Chief Justice in the Army House and directed him to submit his resignation as he was creating problems for Musharaf Regime to do everything to prove their loyalty to USA. He had taken cognizence of missing people which was his major crime. He also started taking notice of irregularities and corruption in Government Machinery. The Pakistani national started to see him as a shining star in the deep darkness. This feature of his personality was not tolerable for Mr. Musharaf. Refusal to bow down was not at all easy for Mr. Iftikhar as he had to ungo a very ruthless character assassination from the Government Machinery. At that point of time the independent media and lawyers' community came to his rescue. Without their help, perhaps it was not possible for Mr. Iftikhar to win and regain his position as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Thanks to his struggle Mr. Musharaf has to putoff the Uniform, which he said to be his skin. So according to his own words, Mr. Pervez Musharaf is a man without skin. In this part of the world it is considered very inethical to roam unclothed. So a ruller without even a skin is beyond any streth of immagination.
We hope that Mr. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will again regain his post of Chief Justice and will do justice and decide the fate of Mr. Pervez Musharaf.
